The ironic thing, is that his Greek heritage would earn him a place in a
    Nazi Concentration camp…smh.

Regardless of the original origin of the gesture or of the players intended
purpose for using it, I find stories like this hypocratic as hell. Where is
his freedom of expression? If that is what he really believes? Supressed.
    Fascism indeed.

I study history and a lots of about WW2 plus I am European and my coutnry
was occupied by Nazies. This is NOT Nazi salute. It could be any salute if
any at all.. You cant translate any rising of straight hand in to Nazi
salute. That is crazy. Anyway Nazis took their way of Salute from ancient
Roman Greek salutes which are very similar and to people unfamiliar with
subject may seem to be the same. But I dont think he is saluting much at
all I think he is just raising hand in celebration which is very common
among football players, often they do this gesture with two hands straight
up, maybe he didnt rise the second hand and probably he didnt think about
the way he is expressing his happiness… He was banned for being happy and
expressing it. You cant see it from photos, you have to see the video where
you can very well understand the posture and it doesnt look like Nazi
salute at all.. only on pictures you cant see the context.

This whole thing is ridiculous i don’t think people even realize how much
the nazis bastardized, their ‘nazi salute’ was stolen from the greek to
begin with. I don’t think he realized what that particular salute was to
many people. It wasn’t malicious he simply didn’t know.

    *Roman salute

  • Jake's Goldilocks 4 years ago

Yes it’s a Roman Greek salute

  • TuaRemenersis 4 years ago

Woah, hang on. Isn’t the salute actually the Roman Greek salute? This is
racism not allowing somebody raise their salutations to their nation in
victory. Now people today are actually claiming the Golden Dawn symbol is a
copy of the Swastika. The Golden Dawn symbol and swastika together are both
actually very ancient and is part of their culture. This in no way should
sound “provocative” or “offensive” to somebody, as it is their history. The
people that claim to find it offensive are racists.
