Five players of the Algerian nafional team were wounded yesterday in Cairo, after the coach that carried the team was attacked with stones by egyptian fans, said an Algerian deputy, quoted by AFP as anonymous.
The incident occurred while the Algerian national team traveled the distance from Cairo airport to the hotel, escorted by police.
Tensions between the egyptians and algerians supporters increased in recent weeks, particularly as a result of messages posted by them on the internet, which led the authorities of both countries to numerous calls for calm.
